As Thomas Cromwell's increasingly ruthless reforms spread terror through an ever more vulnerable Catholic Church, Anne Boleyn has nightmares that her position at the King's side is under threat from the continued existence of former Queen Katherine and her daughter, Mary. Meanwhile, Henry is occupied by sad news and a happy encounter.
Mysterious, huh? Check out these scenes and see if you can figure out what will happen this week!
In the first scene, Henry tells a slightly paranoid Anne to mind her own beeswax:
Thomas Cromwell is beginning to let his thirst for power show. Do you think he believes in the Reformation for religious purposes, or that he only wants to stay in the King's favor?
hi i enjoy the tudors and it seems pretty accurate. i'm curious as to how others see the sacrifice sir thomas made for his principles. was he being selfish in not compromising for the sake of his family, knowing full well what would happen to them as well as knowing the corruption of the church in rome at that time as well.
In the first, tensions build as Henry and Anne squabble about who should entertain the Admiral of France on his visit to England:
Sir Thomas More did in fact lose his head this episode and Thomas Cromwell was there every step of the way, watching. Do you think Cromwell had any remorse over the death of More, or do you think he was plotting More's downfall the entire time?
What a tear-jerker of an episode, from two intense mother-daughter moments to the stubbornness of Sir Thomas More refusing to swear the Oath. Which begs the question, do you think he did the right thing? Should he have spared his conscience for the sake of his family?
The Tudors last night was amazing, as usual. Jonathon Rhys Meyers is so beautiful to look at and does so well with Henry's intensity... he makes me happy that they didn't cast someone who looked like the historical Henry VIII (not as pleasing to look at, to say the least...). It looks like Anne will begin the decent that will end in her beheading next week. I'm excited to see the drama unfold BUT I love Natalie Dormer and can't imagine the show without her. History says Jane Seymour, who gives Henry his long awaited son, Edward, was his 'true love' but I think I disagree with history. Henry excommunicated himself from the Roman Catholic Church, reformed England's religious policies and created an all-powerful Kingship so that he could marry Anne Boleyn. He didn't just divorce her as he did Katharine, he destroyed her reputation and continued until he could imprison and behead her. I just think that with that much hate, there had to be an equal amount of passion and love first...
In any case, things are progressing with my pregnancy. I'm tired, but toss and turn all night because I'm a stomach sleeper, so the next few months should be a blast on the sleeping front. I think I'm starting to look a little pregnant but I think most people look at me like I've gained a little too much weight.
We had my little cousin Samantha's communion on Saturday and I couldn't be more proud of her. She was attentive to the numerous kids (there was seriously like 40-50 kids -- just kids, this communion was huge), tried to include everyone she could and was gracious and beautiful - inside and out. I love that kid to death and it was really nice to spend so much time with her and her brother Chris.
At the party the general consus was that I'm having a boy, which baffles my mind cause really, I have NO FRIGGIN' CLUE what I'm having so the fact that 5 people said, BOY by looking at me in a maxi dress that hid my little pooch belly was really mind blowing. Andrew was thrilled and I think I was mildly irked but then again, everything irks me nowadays so what's different really? :-)
Going to catch up on my hood...
